Create custom item

POST/custom/item/new/:customObjectId

Creates a custom item for the specified custom object, or updates an existing one (upsert).

If the custom object has fields flagged as unique identifiers (isUniqueIdentifier), an item is identified by the combination of the values of all of them. When an item with the same values already exists, it is updated in place and its id is returned. The response is 200 in both cases.

  • Matching is exact (case-sensitive): abc and ABC are two different items.
  • On update, name is replaced and fields that are not sent keep their current value.
  • Send a value for every unique-identifier field.
  • Without unique-identifier fields, every call creates a new item.

An empty name or a missing value for a unique-identifier field returns 400 and nothing is saved. Values sent for unpublished fields that are not unique identifiers are ignored (not stored). Unpublished unique-identifier fields are still stored and used for upsert matching; their values remain required.
